“ I had experienced a major injury to my ankle that left me unable to run and walking with a limp.  I was only 24 years old at the time, with a very active lifestyle playing ice hockey, basketball, and tennis.  I had seen a couple doctors and had x-rays before being referred to GIKK.  It was here I met Dr. David Inda.  He was very professional as well as personable, and was able to determine what was going on in my ankle.  He was straight forward about the surgery procedures and made sure I was comfortable with what he felt would be best for me.  After surgery and a few months of therapy, I immediately noticed a difference.  I was playing hockey again that season and our team went on to win.  But even greater was my appreciation for the abilities I have been given, and for all the wonderful professionals at GIKK and Bergan Mercy.  I can now jog and run again, Thank you so much!

“After having gone through 2 shoulder surgeries in one year with very little success, a friend of a friend told me about a doctor in Omaha he seen and was very pleased. I made an appointment with Dr. R. Michael Gross and after a review of what had been done previously he did an ultrasound on my shoulder and within 5 minutes he showed me what needed to be done. I scheduled the 3rd surgery with Dr. Gross. I am now 8 months out of that 3rd surgery and feeling great! Its hard to put into words how mentally worn out I was after the first two unsuccessful surgeries, but thanks to Dr. Gross and his staff, I also have my sanity back along with a shoulder that feels good. All I can say is, I have the utmost respect for Dr. Gross and the whole GIKK staff and I highly recommend them.”

“My ankle became extremely swollen in October 2008. After numerous tests ordered by my GP and specialists in Lincoln, I was in so much pain I couldn’t even take the physical therapy that had been prescribed for lymphedema. My GP ordered x-rays and found the bones in my foot and ankle were broken in multiple places. I was sent to an orthopedic surgeon who wanted to amputate my leg. A second surgeon repeated the recommendation.  I located Dr. Timothy Fitzgibbons at GIKK who immediately recognized I had Charcot which could be treated.  Dr. Fitz didn’t rush into surgery! For over a year, he worked with me and an orthotist to allow me to walk in a boot and then a brace.  Only as my conditioned worsened did Dr. Fitz even mention the “s” word. The surgery was successful, and I have been able to continue my active lifestyle.”

“I was diagnosed with a complete ACL tear and meniscus damage to my left knee by Dr. Kimberly Turman. She recommended surgery for an ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair so I elected to have her perform it. During pre-op and post, I felt the entire surgical staff was very personable and professional in every facet of their job.  In addtion to the surgical staff, Dr. Turman’s nurse, Mindy, is very prompt on returning my calls and she takes the time to explain to me anything I don’t understand.  I started physical rehab four days after my surgery was completed. The physical therapist commented to me during my first session that she never had a patient capable of doing all the exercises I was able to do that close to surgery.  I’m no medical expert here but something tells me that I am very lucky to have such a great surgeon who surrounds herself with an excellent staff.  Dr. Turman, you and your entire team have my personal thanks for taking care of me and I’m looking forward to a full recovery.”

” I have experienced two of the surgeons at GIKK. The first is Dr. Michael Gross who took me through 5 shoulder surgeries following 4 breaks in my shoulder, the last, a partial shoulder replacement. Dr. Gross is the most knowledgable doctor I could have had for my shoulder, and Jill and the rest of his staff were always there to help explain everything that was coming, and that had been done. I have great movement in my shoulder today, and with the accident I had, my shoulder should have been almost useless, if not for Dr. Gross.

Dr. T Kevin O’Malley performed a total knee replacement on my left knee. Because of his skill, I can hardly tell there has been a replacement as my knee has no pain and works totally normally. Lori, his nurse, introducted me to the Joint Camp at Bergan Mercy. I attended a class a month in advance of the surgery that told me EVERYTHING to expect which really cut down on my stress level. And the joint camp, is the most organized, well executed plan for recovery that I could imagine.

Both the doctors above have my heartfelt thanks and gratitude for all they have done for me. They both work closely with the Bergan Outpatient PT department which has the best PTs anywhere.

Thanks GIKK. I know where to go when I need Orthopedic doctors!!.”

“I was referred to Omaha by my Kearney orthopedic doctor for a shoulder problem.  I found that Dr. Rosipal (at GIKK) was a very repectful and caring physician. I had a complete reverse shoulder surgery done, and at 10 months out, I am doing great.  I felt that he was quite knowledgeable and very capable.  His personality helped me get through all this. Thank you for your care, Dr. Rosipal, and I would definitely recommend you!”

“I love the doctors in this office. I had a minor out-patient surgery and all of my appointments leading up to it– I felt I was very informed, I knew what was going to happen.  They did the surgery and care was excellent.  It was overall well worth it and a great experience. I would recommend Dr. Fitzgibbons every time.”

“We all have milestones in life. May 2006 was the onset of one of mine. I met Dr. Kevin O’Malley and the process began for total knee replacement in both knees, done 8 weeks apart. From the beginning the people who cared for me, the facility at Bergan Mercy and the re-hab, also at Bergan, were absolutely wonderful. The kindness, care, and compassion for a 79 year old woman were amazing.

Two years have passed and the results are well worth everything that took place. I am thankful for the entire experience and am especially pleased when I walk down a ramp NO pain.”

“I highly recommend Dr. Timothy Fitzgibbons as a most professional and talented surgeon. Believe me in that since 2005, I have had 26 operations and know who is good and who is not. I first met Dr. Fitzgibbons in 2009 and he surgically operated on my left foot — a Lincoln based surgeon had done it all wrong in York, NE. His (Dr. Fitzgibbon’s) student with him that day even diagnosed the proper procedure to shave down the bone on my foot instead of amputating my leg like the other surgeon wanted to do. If that is not enough testimonial about the quality of care and expertise given by Dr. Fitzgibbons, then her is more.  In 2011, I returned to see him. Two Lincoln based surgeons had severly crippled my other foot to the point where I had osteomyelitis (bone infection). Dr. Fitzgibbons amputated below my knee and according to my prosthesis builder, it is the best surgical procedure he has seen in his 15 year career.  My former primary care physician totally agreed!  Dr. Fitzgibbons has at least given me a chance at regaining some of my previous life that had basically been destroyed by others.

“As a health care professional, I very much appreciate the care and concern I have received from the GIKK group. Dr. Otterberg is my surgeon and has replaced both hips. He is a highly skilled and has the best interest of the patient at heart. Dr. Otterberg and his assistant, Krista, are the consummate professionals whose demeanor could be an example for others to follow. I have nothing but the highest praise for them and the GIKK associates.”

“I have had knee and hip pain since the early 1990′s. If I stood in line for a couple of minutes or more, my knees would lock up and I would break out in a sweat knowing the pain I would be in when I started to move and unlock them. My regular doctor gave me arthritis medicine but after a while, it didn’t work anymore. I became friends with a woman at work who had a roommate that was a nurse who worked with Dr. Kelly. For 2 years she tried to get me to see him. I finally did and it was the best thing I ever did. I ended up having both partial knee replacements and both hip replacements. I am able to walk again, without pain. I can’t believe the difference it made. I could kick myself for not doing it sooner. Dr. Kelly , the nurses, staff, orthopedic people were wonderful. Joint camp was fun and everyone encouraged each other. After I went home from each surgery, I was only uncomfortable for the first week and by the end of the second week was feeling good enough to go back to work. I took off two weeks for each surgery. Now, I may be able to tolerate pain better than others, but it really wasn’t that bad after the first week. If you are having hip or knee problems, go see Dr. Kelly. I love that man and what he did for me! You will too!.”

“Just a short note about replacement surgery. Thinking about it is frightening, but when you go through joint camp there are NO surprises. You start with an information class that explains EVERYTHING. Not once have I regretted any of these decisions. I recently took a trip to Las Vegas. We walked all over the Strip in 108 degree heat. My knees were pain free. Dr. O’Malley, Laurie and his staff are the best. The physical therapy staff are fantastic. If you have a problem they LISTEN, which is not the norm for some others. I have recommended this staff and I will continue to just that. If I had to do everything all over I wouldn’t change anything.”"

“I saw Dr. McMullen for a right foot problem. From the very first person I spoke to as I entered the facility, I was treated so very nice by every single person. I just wanted to know that it matters a great deal to me as I was having a very difficult day. So THANKS!.”"
